You say the water params are "normal", but that doesn't tell us much that will help us to help you. Can you post test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH please? Also, other information that will be needed is:
What size is the tank? How long has it been set up?
How often do you do water changes? How much at a time?
What is the temp?
How often are you feeding and what kind of food?
What other fish/animals are in the tank?
Are there live plants in the tank?
Are you running CO2 in the tank?
What kind of filter are you running? What media is in it?
We need more information to help you, but once we have it, you should get help quick enough.
As for the Melafix, it shouldn't hurt anything, so if you wish to continue treatment, that is up to you. If it turns out that other medications are needed, you'll want to expect to run carbon in the filter for 48 hrs and do a 25% water change before starting a new medication to be safe. It sounds as if that will be the case, so you may want to begin prepping for that now? Once I know the information listed above, I can help you to choose the proper medication for your fish and the problem. Also, any other symptoms you may have noticed in this fish or any others will be important, too.
Good Luck to you!
