This am I went to feed him and he was hiding in is cave. I thought he was dead, but he moved when I touched him with the net. That's when I noticed he had popeye . I don't know what to do for him. Any help would be great.

A picture of the eye would help dramatically. are you 100% positive that it couldnt be a physical injury? have you done tests on the water? water parameters will help a bunch here

For what it's worth, you can go online and look up popeye (make sure you say something about bettas while you search lol) and look up medicinal treatments...if you go into a pet store, they have can look at the bottle to see what it treats and find one for popeye.

Water params are good and I'm not too sure how he could have injured himself - everything in the tank is soft - except for the plastic filter. Anyhoo, I bought some Maracyin (sp?)2, and my guy at the fish store told me to treat him as directed and he should be fine.
Thanks to both of you,

Does the fish have popeye in both eyes, or just one? If he has it in both eyes, there's a good chance it's some sort of infection, likely caused by poor water quality. Posting your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels will help us figure out if there are water quality issues. If those values are in check, and the fish only has popeye in one eye, it's likely due to an injury of some kind.

Popeye itself isn't an actual disease, but rather a symptom that could come from any number of sources. Knowing the root of the problem will help prevent it from happening and could help fix up your fish.

I rechecked water params today and all levels are perfect. I am now thinking that he may have injured himself, maybe on his cave or something else??? Should I still continue to treat him with the Maracyn 2?
PS - He is just as lively as ever wanting to eat and swimming - although sometimes I still find him in his cave.
