I'm hoping you can help me. Here's my dilemma...
At first I thought my Betta was constipated as my boyfriend was feeding her twice a day and my step dad was also feeding her (they didn't know eachother was feeding) so I just assumed she was being overfed and was just bloated or constipated. I went about 2 days without feeding her hoping that she would pass whatever was in her belly but nothing happened. She has a GREAT appetite but she doesn't move too well. She swims to the top to get food and will swim around but then just "sits" on the bottom.
I noticed that just ONE SIDE of her belly is HUGE it's like she swallowed a bead or something and it's just sitting on one side of her. We looked at her from above and she's not pine-coning atleast from what we can see.
I'm not really knowledgable on PH and all that stuff. She's in a 1 gallon tank, she has an airpump but not filter. I change her tank whenever...there's no real rhyme or reason to when I change it. I know that's bad (from what I've read) She's never had algae problem or any other gross stuff in her tank so I'm not sure what's going on.
She also lives alone and has never been with other fish (while I've had her). I worked at Walmart and someone brought her back with another fish saying they were "dying" because they weren't eating. She seemed fine to me and policy at walmart is to flush them even if they are alive if they've been brought back. I couldn't do it so I bought her for half price and got her a tank and brought her ...have had her ever since.
Here are a few pictures...maybe you can give me some ideas as to what her problem is...
