Not eating, colour has faded, lies on side and curls up

My Betta - Loco - is approx 2 years old and has been fighting fit and healthy for a long time. A few months ago he started losing his colour and his fins and floating on his side. I got some MelaFix and used that and he improved significantly - started eating again, colour returned, keeping his balance etc. He has now deteriorated and is worse than before. Not only has his colour faded his scales now look white, he cannot seem to keep his balance and lies on his side (tries to wedge between the heater and tank wall to keep himself upright) and he hasn't eaten for over a week. He is in a 10L tank, all tested for PH and used all the right stuff (as I have done for the last 2 years). Temperature is about 76 degrees. Any suggestions for what I can do to help the poor guy?

Are you sure he's 2 ..maybe older?
Have you recently added gravel or decorations?
Have you added any fish?
Im just throwing things out that you may have done different that would cause a change or imbalance....

Thanks for the ideas but there is nothing new at all. I keep him at work - went home on the Friday night and he was fine but when I got back to work he was like that

It sounds like you are doing everything right. Have you tested ammonia levels lately? Other than that, maybe he is just getting old and his time is up. Sorry I can't be of much help. I hope that he turns out to be ok after all.
