Nitrate Spikes

80 gallons
large gravel
freshwater
76 degrees
fake plants
nitrite -o
nitrate -80 ppm
ph 7.3
filter--Fluval 405 with good carbon,carb/ammonia bags.Filter is cleaned/carbon replaced every 30 days.
Occupants--2 large Oscars

Just wondering what would be a good way to reduce the ppm of nitrate? I have done 25% water changes/gravel vac every other week.I then ad fresh water, then treat the water with conditioner that eliminates nitrite, nitrate, chlorine, chloramines . My tank is growing algae on the back glass and plants, and the nitrate level has me a little worried, but it does not seem to be getting worse than this around 80 ppm.

Should i use a tap water filter when replacing fresh water?.I have read that most tap water supplies have nitrate.

conditioner-AmQuel+
All of my testers (ph,nitrite, nitrate) are API 5 ml. tube&droppers
These pictures are of the back of my tank ONLY 1 week after cleaning the glass.
I log onto this forum 3 times a day,If there is any other info needed.
THANK YOU!!!

I would increase the water changes to every week at least 50% doing a good gravel vac each time. Oscars are messy fish.

Have you tried testing your tap water for nitrates?
