nipped fin

Well on inspection i noticed my mean danio with a rip in its fin. I dont think its fin-rot since there is no white markings and they are nippy fish, my question is, is it possible to not use medication or does that run the risk of an infection, and is salt considered a medication for this?[/quote]

i remember looking this up for somebody else not that long ago. salt is a kinda general purpose medication really. to clean wounds or medicate of you dont know what the problem is (ie, medicating for dropsy when you have finrot would be a bad idea, so with salt its a sort of neutral medication).

if this was me id probably put a wee drop melafix in as its natural or if its not a very bad rip id likely just let it heal on its own

hope your wee fishes fin is alright

to tell you the truth i think she deserved it, a pain in the butt is all she is, taking food from my other fish, i have to use a turkey baster every time i feed my ram since she always takes his food.

Either you use salt or Melafix. Both will heal tattered fins preventing finrot from taking place.
