New Goldfish with ick

I just got my fish a week ago. They even laid eggs just the other day.

While I was looking at them when I fed them a treat of broccoli I noticed my chocolate one with white dots on its tail, then the calico had it. Later on I checked again and now the chocolate one has a bit on his eye.

So I removed the carbon from the filters, added ick attack (I believe that is what I have for treatment), and gradually got the temp to 76.

Hopefully this works.

Just sucks, I used to have tropical freshwater fish and they all died from ick about 8 months ago.
So two months ago I scrubbed the tank down, got new decor, new sand, and cycled it.

I figured I'd be done with ick for a while.

I've used just heat on goldfish successfully, 88-89 for two weeks.

I seem to recall people reporting unsuccessful treatments with the ich attack. In my own experience rid ich didn't work, but quick cure worked very well. Those are the only two ich meds I have experience with.

Okay I was nervouse about getting the temp too high for them

So that high won't be a problem. I'll start rising the temp a little over time.

Would aquarium salt help?

Many people think that salt helps but I have never used it - only heat which has worked 100% of the time. So naturally I question the need for it.

Okay, just raise the temp and do weekly water changes?

Many people say to do daily water changes and gravel vacs. I used to do that when I first started with the heat. I don't remember if it was curiousness or laziness but at some point I stopped doing the daily water changes and found the treatment to be no less effective. So Now years later I don't change the water for the duration of the treatment. If you decide to change the water just make sure you match the temp.

I saw you mention that you cleaned you tank and cycled it 2 weeks ago. Anytime we see that it prompts questions as to whether or not the tank is cycled. During the treatment I would advise doing water tests and would do a water change just like you would otherwise do, if you showed measurable ammonia.

Yeah it was supposed to say two months ago. Well around that time. I went through the process of ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. I did a fishless cycle with janitor ammonia.

Thank you though. I'll start on getting the temp up and stick to weekly water changes.

Well I lost all three over the weekend.
Should I continue to treat the tank?
