I recently set up a quarantine / hospital tank. It is a ten gallon, and has been up since Saturday. Everything is brand new. However, the filter media is from a long-established and healthy tank. I am currently using it to quarantine ten Neon Tetras that have been in the tank since Saturday. I lost one today. The others are exhibiting rapid respiration and appear distressed. I'm at a loss for causation. Water parameters are as follows:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: -5 ppm
Temp: 78 (F)
I have reviewed the"Disease"section of this forum but wasn't able to determine what was going on with my little guys. Any insight greatly appreciated.
