Neon Rosy with injured pectoral fin?

Ok ... Woke up this morning and found my Neon Rosy Barb somewhat swimming in a counterclockwise circle patterns. Not really swimming upright, had a slight tilt, but was at the bottom of the tank. Took a closer look and it is not moving it's left pectoral fin much, I can't tell if it's been nipped or injured ...it looks smaller/thinner than the other .. all other fins are fine.

I left around 11am It was in a bucket with aquarium salt. Get back about 4:30pm and find it;s swimming fine .. not in erratic circles or anything. Right now got him in a mini tank with an air-stone and tank substrate .. to keep an eye out. Will do PWC's from the main tank every few hours with the salt.

5 minutes after first put in the mini tank ... it made a dash for the surface and spiraled back down to the bottom ... swimming erratically like it did before and then back to swimming normally .. all within 10 seconds. The fin I thought was injured appears better?... tough to tell .. not using it as much as the other .. but more than before. Figure I'll keep checking on it for the next few days .. maybe a week, see if it develops anything new. I'm perplexed ... as much as I'd like to put it back in the main tank ... I've no idea what was up with it this morning.

The other fish are fine .. any thoughts?

Can you post any clear photos of this fish? Keep watch for other symptoms... it could be a number of things, but at this point its hard to determine exactly what it is. Can you also post basic tank stats, including water parameters for the main tank? (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH) Tank mates in main tank? How many of each species?

Go easy on the aquarium salt, barbs are not real tolerant of heavy salt, even for medication.

Is it still eating? Any other abnormalities? Faded color? Holes or tears in any fins? Anything, even if it seems small and unimportant, can help lead to a proper diagnosis.

You are doing the best thing you can right now, keep it clean and avoid stress as much as possible, and keep a close watch, not just the sick fish but also the other fish in case another shows similar or same symptoms.

Thanks for reply. Well here's the funny thing ... Later that afternoon ... to be safe I got a small hospital tank going to QT it. Used substrate from my main tank for cycling . .... and for the next 3 days the fish was fine as can be! It ate food, had good color, no fin damage at all ... not a thing!

During all this ... my parameters were 0,0, 10ppm nitrates ... pH around 7.6 as always .. I have hard tap water for PWC's. No other fish showed any abnormal behavior ...

It's been back in my main tank for the last couple of days and it's behaving as normal.
