Molly dying help
I woke up one morning and found white spots all over my black molly. He is in a ten gal. tank in brackish water. A week before this happend my glass fish had a white spot on his fin so i took him out and then he died. So now i think my tank is contaminated with white spot. What do I do? In the tank I have a Glass fish, Glass Cat fish, Black Molly, and Platy. Please help!![/img]
Sounds like white spot indeed. you can use medicine to get rid of it, or use the salt treatment which includes adding salt (clearly this part is already done since it's brakish) and upping the temperature to 80-84 depending on what the fish can take. There's a great sticky at the start of this section detailing all the methods to help get rid of it. Personally I've never had any luck with salt and have used a medicine called protozin with sucess. Always check that a medicine is compatable with your fish before you use it though Since you have a brackish tank however, I would be inclined to try the salt method first.
When I used the blue stuff, all the white decor in my tank (pillars) turned a light blue and so did the clear stuff holding the tank together. The pillar has turned white again (its been a while) the lining stuff is still a slight blue though. But it worked in the end!
