I bought a tank on the weekend and it came with some fish. I cant find anything either fish normally looking like this does or the disease it may be carrying. I think they may be long fin white skirts or Black Widow Tetra but I dont know whats wrong with them if thats the case. Theres 3 that look exactly the same.

Appear to be tetra's of type I am not sure of.
Can say that so long as fishes are not being nipped, that twice weekly water changes for a few weeks should heal tattered fins without the need for any further treatment.
If fin nipping is occuring and you have the room, then adding a few more to the three you have may spread the nipping around.
Schooling specie's often nip at each other while establishing pecking order and the more fish in the school,,the less likely that one or two can be singled out.
Can't stress the water changes enough to help re=generate new growth on fin's and prevent secondary infection's from setting in.

Sorry should have mentioned, theres one Black skirt in there as well so 4 of them, if they are indeed skirts. I haven't noticed any excessive fin nipping just a wee bit to establish the pecking order. When I got the tank with them there was a kissing gourami and 3 plecos as well.

It makes me wonder though that 3 of them all look exactly the same. Dont know if adding more is a good idea at this point until I can figure out if this is a disease or not.
