Ich Med Dosage w/ Water Changes?
How much ick medication (Quick Cure) do I administer after the initial dose? For example: in my 46 gallon tank, I used 23 drops - 1 drop per 2 gallons because of several scaleless fish and tetras. After a 50% water change several days later, do I then dose just the water I'm replacing (23 gallons), or the entire 46 gallons? No product instructions are clear on this, I can't find this detail ANYWHERE and I'm afraid if I does the entire volume of the tank after replacing just some of the water, I'm overdosing. I've increased temp, added some salt, removed carbon, vacuumed substrate, etc. I've lost fish I've had for 7 years because of this horrible ich outbreak! I would really appreciate advice from an experienced ich-treater.
Most ich remedies are carried out over a week's period of time. At which time, a water change is performed. I know of no product that suggests changing the water during the course of the application of the medication. Also you should turn your heat up to 84-86 degrees Fahrenheit during the course of the treatment.
i might be too late but i had an outbreak in my tank as well all my tetras and zebras got it... i use ick clear tank buddies and it worked great just be sure to read all the instructions before you treat it, remove the carbon from your filter and i also removed my snails and pleco just incase or treat the sick fish in a diffrent tank, also if you have a lid keep it open so the medication can slowly evaporate... good luck
