Please read my post about the
Goldfish bowl to get the whole story of this situation if you'd like, but to make a long story short I am fish-sitting a
Goldfish in a bowl, and caring for this fish like he was gold, literally!
I noticed something sticking out of his side by a red spot. I searched and searched for what disease or parasite this could be, but found nothing. I scooped him into my net and gently ran my finger across this thing and it was sharp!
I got a tweezer and took a few deep breaths and gave this thing a gentle pull. I did feel some resistance so I gave "Fin" (and myself) a breather, still in the net. I then did this one more time, but continuing to gently pull, and I pulled out a 1.5 cm long PIECE OF METAL!
This poor fish is not only living in a bowl, but now just had surgery to remove a huge (relatively speaking) piece. Poor guy.
I had already done the second water change today, and added the smallest amount of salt and one drop of Melafix.
It might be my imagination but I think he looks happier. He's swimming around more. Here is a photo of what I pulled out.
