Ok, so I have one 10 gallon tank with four guppies in it, 3 females and one male. Two of the females are completely fine while the other two are having some problems. A person at my local pet store told me they thought my problem was ICH and suggested I turn the temperature in the tank up to 86 F gradually. They also suggested I use a medication called Ich Attack and take out the carbon filter in my tank. It seemed to go away and then yesterday the two were sick again worse then before. They were covered in what I was told is Ich and their tails began to disappear. I had the water tested in my tanks (I also have a one gallon tank that has a few molly fry in it). The results were that everything was normal. My male guppy died today and I took a few pictures of his tail to see if anyone would possibly know what is going on and have any suggestions.

Ich can do that it is very sad. The issue arrises however because your fish are stressed and more suseptable to ich. The very first thing to do is find out the initial cause and fix that. Fighting symptoms only delay. If your water parameters are fine ( IE all 0) then there must be some other issue going on. Were they being overly aggressive? Is the pH/water hardness appropriate for the fish? were they being moved around a lot, etc. The other thing that is important is to increase the water temp slowly, but to also do water changes.

I had ich a lot when I first started fish keeping. Some of it was my miss information, and some of it was the fact that walmart was the only place to get fish at the time. (Horrible I know!) In my experience however, raising the water temp, and doing water changes alone saved most of my fish.

Other things to consider is that stress over time is very unhealthy for fish and can cause serious problems , lowering the constitution, and causing them to die sooner, or during things they might otherwise be able to overcome on their own. Hopefully Byron or another will come explain and help more. They are good with words and explanations haha.

It looks to me more like fin rot. were the glow danio's nipping a lot?

I think ich can cause this problem too. I would postulate that this aggression caused the stress, which made them susceptible to ich, which in turn caused this. I would make sure that you are keeping your fish in proper shoals, and make sure that they are compatible with each other. Check the fish profiles which is tabbed at the top of the forum next to user CP

I am very sorry to hear about your lost fish.

I think ich is a paracite, and fin rot is a bacteria. its contagious and you need to keep and maintain good quality water. so make sure your doing your water changes
