I had a couple goldfish that I was given as a gift, but I decided there would be no way to take care of them as they got older. I gave them back to a fish store and instead bought a Candy Striped Pleco and a Kuhli Loach (They talked me into the Kuhli Loach, of which apparently there are supposed to be 3 or more in a tank, which I will rectify as soon as my ich is taken care of). Well, I set up the fish in the tank, not thinking to quarantine them since they would be the only fish in the tank, and ended up having to leave on a trip shortly after. I had someone feed them, but when I got back, my Pleco was very infected with ich :-(, and by very, I mean probably salt-sized white bubbles covering his body. Turns out the store I bought him at started treating that tank for ich just a day or so before I got back from my trip.
Anyway, they sold me some ich medicine (which I think is terrible, they SOLD me the fish with ich, they should not force me to have to BUY the medicine for it... at least in my opinion) of which I immediately began to raise the temperature to 80 degrees (it was at 78 before, so it didn't take long), replaced half the water, and put in the ich treatment. Its been 3 days, and I've replaced water and given medicine, Rid-Ich at half dose because of my loach, each day, but my Pleco does not look any better, and my Loach looks like it may even be getting the slightest signs of ich as well! The only thing different is that the Pleco spent almost all the time hiding in between a leaf and a piece of driftwood, but today it is relatively active. I've seen him actually moving and even climbing up the walls. He's still breathing really fast though, so I'm really worried if he will survive... Any suggestions?
