Growth On ID Shark

i have 6 id sharks (yes i know how big they get), currently they are about 5 inches

i looked at them closely today and one of them had a few growths on his body,

on one side he has what appears to be a large pimple growing, it is reddish brown in color, but instead of being on top of the skin it actually looks like its growing THROUGH his skin, and it sticks out from his body very noticeably about 3-4mm

on the other side of his body he has another growth that is a bit bigger, this one looks like a cotton swab/ball growing on his body and sticks out a bit more, maybe 4-5mm,

all the rest of them are fine, does anybody know what this is? is it cureable?

i have removed him from the tank for now in fear it might be contagious

its hard to get a good picture because they swim so much and never really stay still

just an update on this.....

another one of the ID sharks in the same tank has developed the exact same symptoms as described above, but now about 3 weeks later....

i have about 20 other fish in the tank that are all fine, so this seems to be confined to the ID sharks....

i have never experienced this in my 20+ years of fishkeeping, just wondering if ID sharks are prone to this type of thing?.....any ID shark experts out there?

u described it as a coton swab lookign thing. if its fuzzy i woudl defiantely have to say some type of fungus. not familiiar with the species but from the sounds of it i would say fungus. maybe look into some fungal meds and do some research then treat.
