I think they are asking you what is the name/brand/style of your filter so that we can look it up and give you more info. we're assuming the filter hangs on the back?

It is a aqua tech filter and it is a hang on one. But I was going to try to look for one that doesn't have so much out put. I guess if you guess know of one that has the media I need to use let me know of the brand.

She probably means filter. You can put a sponge type medium in most filters. The ceramic rings are also kept in a mesh type bag, and help create a place for the healthy bacteria. You never really need to change them, just rinse them once a month in old tank water.

If you have a whisper filter (I'm only assuming that is what you could have) you can still use a sponge medium with ceramic rings or whatever they're called. Hope that helps.
