Fish scraping themselves

Does anyone know what could cause my fish to scrape themselves against plants or rocks? They look like they have ants in their pants. If so anyone know of the best and cheapest way to treat it?

Thanks Beaufred

I had this same question just a few weeks ago. You may want to wait for someone elses response, but what I was told is that some people consider it the fish getting rid of parasites, while others consider it just the fish having an itch. So I guess theres no real answer to this. But wait for someone elses answer, I'm sure somone with more experience with this will be along shortly!

The phenomenon is called flashing. As said before, there are many reasons for it. African cihlids seem to do it all of the time. At least mine do. You may want to add StressCoat, an all natural slime enhancer. It has worked for me in the past.
