Dry Start, Fin rot, have to move plants

So my lfs gave me a batch of B. maculates with fin rot, they seemed okay so I put them in, they lived ate and were fine UNTIL in went on vaca. I programmed the feeder to feed to much and the deteriating conditions caused the fin rot to spread and take over. it killed all my fish and now I'm left with a very take with fin rot, I want to do a dry start, but to do that I have to move plants to my main tank, will the plants carry fin rot to the main tank, before I move the plants, I will reduce the water to 5 gallons and dose for 10 gallons for a day or two. would that be okay?
