Dropsy?

My two Emporer tetras started acting sickly, swimming near the top of the water, they look a little swollen at the gills/eyes sinking in, and look like they have scrapes on their sides by their gills. Possibly dropsy? Water parameters are good, snail and shrimp are ok, but I have live plants and there is some brown algae. Any ideas?

Dropsy can be easily diagnosed by looking down fronm above the fish and checking for raised scales. It is usually caused by poor water quality, although it can appear out of nowhere.

If you could post the parameters of your water conditions, pH, ammonia, nitrates and nitrites as well as temperature, it would be easier to isolate the problem.
