ok I have a black tale barb and it has a dot on his tail that is risen off of it and still black but it looks like a pimple. Is this some kind of disease? should I seperate him from the others?
pictures are always helpful. If it truly looks like a dot it could be ich. If it is ich I would suggest doing the entire tank with a rid ick med, raising the tank temp up (speeds up life cycle of ich), and adding some salt.
But if you add some pics it may be something entirely different.
I cant get a good pic of him my camera sucks and he wont hold still. it looks just like a pimple it is the same color of him but has a slight white color to the outside of it. also nothing else in the entire tank has it. I thought that if it was ick then more than one fish would have it?
as would it be with a fungul disease also
the only other thing i can think of is a tumour
if it is a tumour then it can go a few ways,
one the fish stays alive and two they die,
tumours can grow anywhere, one of my angels has one and is still alive for the moment,
fungul/ ich or even parasites would spread through the tank
there may be one other thing
has the widow been fighting? or been attacked?
what is your stock list?
I have 3 of the tetras, 2 red platties, 3 black mollies, 3 dalmation mollies, 2 albino cory catfish, 2 plecos, 3 tequila sunrise guppies, 5 whisper shrimp, 1 green shrimp, 5 ramshorn snails, and 2 black loaches. Also my 14 dalmation mollie fry are in a breeder floating in the tank.
it is possible that it could have been attacked but I thought that I got rid of my aggressive fish cos I used to have a picus cat in there but he kept on chasing everyboyd all around the tank so I got rid of him.
there isnt much in thier that would be agressive, the only possiblity is the male mollies,
i got rid of a pictus cat also not long ago for the same reason
Ya it was sad to see him go but that is when I picked up the 2 albino cory cats. well I will keep an eye on the tank if I start to see the other fish develop the same simptoms just turn the temp up and put the ick cure stuff in? what temp should I put it up to I have the tank at 77 right now.
they recommed 80 for ich, but i wouldnt be jumping down the ich road without checking fungul or parasite diseases out as they are still a possiblity as is the tumour
awe thats not good, but fish are like humans, they can live through most things,
I had a golden gourami with a broken back live for mths,
and still swim ok
i have an angel with a tumour right now, and it is still alive
