Danio problems...

Hey guys, see if you can identify what is wrong with this danio. This is a golden danio. It is bloated and I saw that some of the scales below the head, close to the belly were standing, sort of like pine coning.. but it is only in that specific area. He is also not eating. What do you think it is? I have a 20g tank, there are 2 more golden danios, 3 glofish, one Blue Ram, and 7 Ghost Shrimp. As for plants, there is one sword, a couple of crypts, java fern, java moss, and an aponogeton. I have not tested the water yet but USUALLY the ammonia = 0, nitrite = 0, nitrates < 5, ph = 7.2 - 7.6, Gh = 3-5. If anyone suspects anything, please let me know... thanks.

The danios have been so problematic, I don't think I'll be getting anymore of these fish...

danios are actually very hardy fish you probably just got a bad batch..
as these guys are in 20 g tank they need more like 50 GALLON and up size tank they like to play..
also your tank is kind of full.. i would considering cutting down a little on small energetic fish i put my zebra danios in a 20 gallon to spawn and they were so depressed.. they dont like small spaces they like room to run around and play in like kids so that might be your issue!

also i advise testing the water ASAP as a spike in anything could kill off these amazing animals!

Well that danio died. I donated the rest to the pet store. The two biggest ones were harassing the smaller ones too much. I got some rasboras in their place. Much more peaceful tank now. The water quality was just fine.
