Cracked Tank Saga

I cracked my 10 gallon tank on the bottom and I'm pretty sure it's not repairable. Fortunately I am in the process of upgrading tanks and have a brand new 37 gallon tank in the trunk of my car waiting to be set up. Here's the quandary. Currently the four serpa tetras from the broken tank are in a 4 gallon bucket with the heater and filter. Which option has the highest probability of keeping my fish alive. a) Put water in the new tank and add the fish right away. b) Keep the fish in the bucket for a couple days while I try to quickly cycle the new tank with gravel from the old tank. or c) Put my fish in my friend's aquarium (which will probably over-crowd the tank).

Thanks,
Erin

I would add the gravel from the 10g to the 37g. Add water, bring it up to temperature and add the fish. I would also use any type of filters from the old tank on the new one. Serpaes shouldn't be a huge bio load by any means. I would keep an eye on the tank and make water tests regularly to make sure that ammonia , nitrite, and nitrates don't get too high.

By seeding the tank, you will greatly reduce cycle time. Just keep a close eye on things.
