Unhappy Concerned about two of my sterba corydora's mouths

I have 6 sterba corydora's..Only one of them has all of his barbles...4 of them have one or two missing and 2 of them have ALL of them gone... The 2 with all of the barbles missing, their mouths are pretty white..Just at the tip of their mouth...
They seem like they eat just fine and they are acting just fine as well. But I am wondering if anyone else has seen this in their own corydoras? Are they more prone to infection?

I will post a pic of them soon..

THanks!

hi
what substrate have you got them on ?

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

It's fine gravel now.. I took out alot of the other substrate i had before because I learned that it was too lare, I admit:( But now it's small and fine and I want to know if their lives will be shortened because of their barble-less white mouths.... :(

They'll probably be fine just watch them closely to make sure they're not developing mouth rot or fungus.

as fordman said, keep an eye on them.
i had the same with some of my corydoras,so i changed half of the tank to sand,
gravel at the back for the plants, stuck a clear plastic devide in,then added the sand,
i'm pleased to say that the barbels are nice and fully grown to how they should be.
if it is possible for you to do this, then i'd say go for it.

Thumbs up

Hurrah! Am very glad to hear this! I am going to take out as much of the larger substrate as possible and replace it with finer substrate tomorrow....I feel bad...but I'm pretty sure they came like this.... I should have looked at them close before buying I suppose...

Thanks!~!~
