Betta w/ worm?

Hi all, I'm having an issue with my Betta Ruby. He has a
short white stringy looking thing hanging from his Pelvic fin. I thought
it was something insignificant and it's been there for a while. However it
appears to be getting longer. I was reading around and it appears it may be an anchor worm.
If it's not a worm seems like it would have just fallen off by now. Fin regrowth maybe? But it's so white. It's been there over a month.

He's behaving normally with good appetite. However he's currently being
treated for Finrot with Kanaplex. Previously, I treated him in a QT tank
with salt and his fins healed 90% and I put him back in the 10 gal and he
got sick again. I should have left him longer, but he was getting very
depressed in the small 1.5 gal.

Today was his last dose of Kanaplex. It appears the rot has stopped, but
the fins are not looking better yet.

Ruby is currently in his 10 gallon planted tank. Not sure what I should do
about this. Would like to treat conservatively as possible.
Was thinking I can take him out and try and pull it off with tweezers, although that sounds intense and makes me nervous.

Thanks, Donetta

Do you mean on one of the ventral fins? The two long fins in front? I can't really tell from the pic.

Does it move in any way independent of the fin? On it's own? That would indicate it's "alive". Hope someone can give you some advice.

Yes, the two long ventral fins in the front. One has the white stringy extension. You can't see it?

Now that you mention it, I haven't see it move. Maybe it's not alive then. I'll look again when I get home.

One thing you could do is to net him and very gently check it out.

Awesome idea! I'll take a little look when I do the water change. Hopefully it's not a worm.

Thank you
