betta acting strangely

I have had my betta a few weeks now, he seems pretty happy but the past few days he has been swimming around with his "fan" out and acting aggressive... then he just slows right down completely... i am thinking that his bowl (shaped like a giant ipod) might be confining, so i am going to buy him a new one but i don't think that would explain the aggressive behaviour. any suggestion?

Are there any mirrors nearby? Also, if the Ipod bowl is brighter then the room it will cause the glass to be reflective. One possible cause to your dilemma.

How big is the tank anyways? If you're wanting to buy him new stuff get at least a 2.5 gallon, heater (preset mini is fine) and a filter. Cycle properly then introduce to new home :)
