Balloon Molly has developed red back half

My yellow balloon molly has recently developed large red areas on his back half. Basically after the midsection to the start of his tail it's all red.And from what I can tell it's not external but appears to be internal.

He starting to have difficulty swimming with his nose down near the gravel and his tail floating higher. This looks like it could be the end I realize and too late for any treatment but i'm just wondering what it could be?

I measured water chemistry last night and everything looked good except for nitrate level being slightly elevated.

I'm also wondering about the possibility of some sort of blockage due to overfeeding. I may be guilty of giving them too much food since he shares the tank with 5 tetras and I'm always worried about getting enough food to them past the vacuum cleaner molly. So I wonder if I did him in with too much food?

Thanks for any advise.
