Ok, now some of you may know my betta is sick. He has a bloated belly from which i have gathered is constipation. Ihave tried fasting him and giving him peas, nothing has worked. He wont even eat the pea. Is there anyone with any other advise or is my fish doomed. I dont want to see him die, but i have tried what i have been told and nothing is working. so if anyone has any more suggestions that would be great. thanks, mel.

Does your betta swim in an awkward manner or maybe upside-down? Surely, it couldn't be swim bladder problem, is it?

no, when he does swim it like regular, but most of the time he sits on the bottom of his tank. and his scales arent buldging or any other swim bladder symptoms. i have asked opinions on another site just for bettas but no one has given me any other options so i was wondering if there was any. this is the first time i have ever had a poblem like this and i just dont know what to do.

How long did you fast the fish?

Have you tried Epsom salt? It's supposed to help constipation in fish.

mine had this i rased the temp a lil bit put in melfix and did a water change every three days.

Well i fasted him for 4 days, offered a pea(didnt eat it). Then i fasted him a few more days, offered a pea(didnt eat it). So he hasnt really at anything in like over a week. I will buy some epsom salt today and try to see if that works.

Epsom salt would be my idea as well. It may do the trick as it tends to pull fluid out of the fish. Just try varying his diet, if the bloating does not go away you may have to feed him some medicated flakes for bacterial infections.

There is a medication called PraziQuantal, the brand name is "Prazi Pro" that should help. Treat as directed, be careful not to overdose it. The other medication option is called Pipzine, and it can be mixed with the food and fed to the fish. Of the two, Prazi will be faster, and more effective.
I believe your fish has a tapeworm, which is not uncommon in bettas. All of the symptoms fit, and the lack of response in other treatments also fits.
Because he probably isn't eating anything at all, understandably, if he doesn't feel good, so the Prazi is the better way to treat him because it is put into the water. If there is a filter running, be sure to remove all carbon before medicating. After medicating, do a 25 - 30% water change, daily for 3 days to remove it from the water, and replace the carbon in the filter, if any.
