I took my angelfish out of my big tank and QT it as I saw a white cyst like pimple on it's nose. As I was sitting talking on the phone nest to the QT angelfish something that came swimming out. I'm not sure if it came out of my fish or not. It looks shrimp like and is a clear color with legs and has 2 pointy feelers coming out of the butt area about the size of a dwarf shrimp baby. I can't take a picture as it is so small but I have it in a container. I posted a picture of my angelfish with the white bump on the right side.

This gets me worried as I added 2 Wild Columbian rams to my big tank on saturday and did not QT them. Bad idea. Anyone know what the shrimp thing might be?

You know it could be a type of cleaning parasite or it could be a very bad parasite. I would just keep an eye on it and watch the angle for signs of stress, that will be a first indicator. Right now it sounds as if it's ok, so no need to worry right now. I have some of those type of clear really small shrimp looking things in my sump that clean the crap in the algae. Not sure if it's the same, without seeing it.

Parasite / some type of live food or what ?

Here is a picture I took with my camera with a magnifying glass over the lens. It looks like a ghost shrimp in shape but it has the 2 things on the end unlike a shrimp tail. This is bugging me now. I guess I can take it to the LFS to have them check it out tomorrow. If anyone knows what this might be. I looked on-line and can't find anything that looks like this. it's about the size of a tiny newborn dwarf shrimp. It has 3 legs on each side. In the picture you can see the 2 long things at the end shaped like a v.

Yes, that is what it is a Damselfly nymph. So it's not a parasite then? After looking at the picture you posted that looks just like it. Thanks I knew someone out there would know what it was. How the heck did it come out of my tank or fish? At first I thought it might be a Copepod or Amphipoda. I will keep treating my little angelfish for 7 days with Melafix & Pimafix and hope it is not a tumor growth on it's nose.

I don't know how it ending up in my tank or fish. I did not take any plants from my outside tub pond to inside for my tanks as the ponds had pond snails and Ramshorn snails from water lettuce and water plants. I'm going to flush it right now. I was wondering if the Pet Kingdom feeds their fish damselfly nymphs maybe it came from the rams added last week.

I doubt that Pet Kingdom feeds damselfly nymphs but the doors to the store are always open so maybe one buzzed in? I'm heading over there this morning when they open and will mention it. I also will talk to Ron about the orgins of your rams.
