Anchor Worm Problem

I'm fairly new to fish keeping, so bear with me.

A few months back I purchased an fully grown angelfish from a local fish store and a few days later it had anchor worms, which I did not know at the time. I had no idea what was wrong with it. It was the first fish that I put in my cycled 46 bowfront, so no other fish were effected. Several weeks later, the poor fella died.

Now, after the tank has been empty for 2 months (been putting small amounts of food in to keep bacteria going) I am worried that the anchor worms will come back if I try to stock it again. I have read that they have to have a host fish or they will die off eventually, but I want to make sure.

Should I just add some external parasite meds and that will kill off any remaining ones, or do I need to take further steps?

The levels are fine, according to what I have read online, and my main concern is the return of the parasites. Advice??
