albino oscar is sick?

This just started yesterday, but is getting worst i think... He is panting alot. But i have a air stone that pumps out alot of air. He is also not eating now. he is a new oscar only 2 inches long and have had him for 1-2 weeks. Water isn't completely cycled but doing well. Any ideas? I am getting the water checked tomorrow.

What are your water parameters? This sounds like gill burn from ammonia. Do plenty of water changes. What size is the tank? How long have you run the tank? What was your reason for buying the fish?

I'm in college, and i had 2 tiger Oscars but sold them because I couldnt bring that big of tank. so i have a 20g sitting around so I decided I would get a baby Oscar and in like 3-4 months I could move him to a bigger tank. any who, I will do a water change immediately and get it tested. I bet its the amonia, tank isn't cycled yet, about 3-4 weeks cycled so far. Do i need to pick up some medicine at all? He is panting alot, and I don't think he is able to eat now.

A 50% water change should help. Be prepared to do it again in 3-5 days. Do not sweep the gravel, remove water only, unless you are feeding flake and have an abundance of uneaten food on the bottom of the tank.
