Hello all! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday.

Now my problem:

I had four African Dwarf Frogs for about two years now. One died suddenly a while ago, developing (what appeared to be) a quick fungal infection and died all within approximately 12 hours. I removed his little body quickly and the rest of the frogs appear to have been unaffected.

Today I found another one, but his/her case is different. I found her hiding at the back of the tank, behind a large piece of driftwood absolutely emaciated. S/he is wasting away, while the other two are just as fat and active as ever. I've removed him/her into a separate tank, using water from his/her regular tank. I've put thawed brine shrimp in there, trying to entice the poor little thing to eat. S/he's so weak, I don't even know if it can eat.

Suggestions?

I'm sorry to say I don't know what's wrong with him. Try hand feeding it live bloodworms. If it's weak, it might not be able to find/catch its food. Just pinch the worm between your fingers and hold it right infront of his nose, maybe even touching, until he eats it. do this in the same place every day until he is all better, then wean him of of the 'special treatment'.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Might be wrong but, I think your little frogs are reaching the end of their life expectancy. You've done a great job providing a good home for them for so long. You're doing the best you can do right now. Good luck.

Despite my efforts last night, the little froggy passed away. I had brine shrimp on hand, so I gave him (or her?) some and it ate. Then it became even more lethargic (makes sense, it just ate) and when I checked on its progress before I went to bed around midnight, it had died.

I thought ADFs lived longer. I.e., 5-10 years. These were adolescents when I got them. But like any other animal, I suppose they all have their possibilities for developing illness and disease.
