2 dead fish

Hello all, I recently bought my 20 gallon fishtank, probably about 2 months ago. I've had no problems until recently. I bought an upside down catfish, 2 marble mollies, and 3 more tiger barbs. Yesterday, I found one of my marble mollies and my catfish dead. My catfish was covered in white moldy-looking stuff. I read that it is probably some kind of fungus. So yesterday I bought fungal medication for my fishtank. I noticed my 2 platys had some white stuff started to form on their bodies too, and a little bit on my mollies, so I placed 2 tablets of the fungal medication into the tank. The directions said to remove my carbon filter so it does not remove the medication from the tank. I have a filter with a biowheel and a carbon filter, so am I supposed to leave the carbon filter out for a few days? I do not want to worsen my problem by making a dirty fishtank. Also, I noticed that my tiger barbs do not swim around much since yesterday, they are just hovering with their face angled downward, not moving much. Is this normal? I'm not sure how to go about these problems.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

definitely not normal... how often are you gravel vaccing and doing water changes? fungal infections typically get fish that are in distress and have a bad slime coat ... which is often caused by poor water quality. i'd start off with a few water changes over the course of a week. 20-30% every other day or so w/ gravel vac

do you happen to have an isolation tank you can use as a hospital tank? there are more options there if you do without treating your whole tank

I have been doing weekly water changes of about 20%. I haven't cleaned the gravel in a while because the bacteria had not built up enough yet. I noticed that my fish are now 'wiggling' it looks like they are spazzing out. Only my platys and tiger barb are doing that, my mollies seem to be spending a lot of time towards the top of my tank.
