Password Update is a bit too extreme

Is it possible if we don't have to have at least one symbol, uppercase, lowercase and number...
Its a bit annoying, since my new password is something I have no familiarity with and will forget it. Not to mention, a bit over the top. My bank account is more chill than a forum! :smile2:

At most, is it possible to change it so it must have at least 10 letters and a possible combination of 2 or more of the symbol, uppercase, lowercase and number...

Regards

Came here just to reset my password. I shouldn't have even had an account, but apparently it was mirrored from bettafish.

Please use a password manager, getting started guide for one: How to use KeePass!
and I'd also recommend LastPass, 1Password, Dashlane, and a few others if you don't like the look of KeePass. For the vast majority of passwords, you shouldn't have to remember them. If you are, it means they're probably not complex enough, and you're probably reusing them. It makes for bad times eventually. It also makes life a lot easier when you're passwords are automatically copied/pasted or autofilled by a manager.

Also, to the owners of Tropical Fish Keeping, Pufferfish, and Betta Fish. For the love of all that is holy get a frikken certificate for your sites! You're authentication pages are all in plain text. You're overlooking the simple stuff! You can get them for free these days. There really is no excuse! https://letsencrypt.org/

Lastly, I could be wrong, but I believe you're running vBulletin 3.8.8, which is end of life. I've never been a user of vBulletin, so again, maybe I have bad info, but you probably want to upgrade.

Not really an inconvenience, more like annoying! :) When using the site on the mobile - which I use to do before - it was easy login. Now - if i remember the password - it takes me like twice as long. I pretty much stopped useage on the mobile because of this.

I don't understand the details into why we needed the upgrade, but does the site have to be on "lock down". I'm felt like before the upgrade was secure enough TBH.

Hey Aussie... yes... semi lock down. There was a security breach... there is a notice at the top of some of the pages about it. So they have changed all passwords and requiring everyone to sign back in with these new ones. You can then go back in and change it to something easier... on that same page... something you can remember but still have all the components required.

Woops, should add! I did change it from the one you guys gave me into my own that's "slightly" easier it remember. But still, would all these "additional requirements" make a difference to the security to the site? If someone really wanted to get into here, true it probably take them twice as long but they could be able to.
