Hello all,

Over the next few days we will be implementing some changes to our forum password strength and password expiration policies. To make sure you continue having the best experience possible on the community, we regularly monitor the site and the Internet to keep everyone's account information safe. We've recently become aware of a potential risk to some accounts coming from outside of this community. Just to be safe, we are implementing the following changes to improve security even further:

1) We are asking everyone to change their passwords (and will force a one time reset). Along with every user on the forum, new passwords will need to be more complex, and can't be simple words (sorry, you can't have "fluffy" as your password anymore!). Please use a password unique to this community. Reusing passwords can expose your account indirectly when other websites (Twitter, Linkedin, Badoo, etc) are compromised; and

2) Your passwords will expire on a 365 day basis. When you login on the 366th day, you will have to change it.

We'll also be sending out an email to users to let them know about the changes, in upcoming weeks.

Thanks all,

Helena

Gah! I already have problems remembering passwords. Do you already know what the requirements for the passwords will be? I just changed mine because I forgot. When I try to remember my password, hints such as a pop-up box that lists the requirements such as one capital letter, 2 numerical etc help me remember it before I get locked out because I've entered it incorrectly several times.

I like that you have 5 tries, but I have been locked out after 5 fails. When you can't see how the password has been entered, it can be tricky if you have sticky keyboard keys or caps lock on. I do have one site that has an additional "info" line that when scrolled over reminds you what the requirements are. That helps me out big time. Just an idea.

It makes for nice protection, but there's one problem: It won't accept my email so I can change it, so I had to make a new account. Previous was Sylverclaws and I've always had the same password, and same email, but it claims it is invalid.

I suppose I don't mind. However, it would be good to check into it for those who do mind.

Well, it's a bummer, but it's not a huge deal to me. I just put it up in a message on my old account so others will know. I love to skim around and help out, it's not like the account posts vanished so I can just add on them. LOL I hope it's not a problem for the admins that I have a dead account?

So, I kind of lied. Apparently, my password was not changed. It still is the one given to me by the "one time reset". I have tried twice to change my password and it doesn't seem to work. Could someone please explain step by step how to do this? I have all the required characters as indicated by the check marks on screen. I then hit "save" button, but nothing is changed. When I logout, my new password is not changed. I have had trouble in the past with trying to change my password and thus I don't like changing it. I also tried, twice, the link on the login page to have an e-mail sent to me because I can't remember my password and I received no e-mail from TFK to reset.
