Milestone Reached Again

Back in April we surpassed 50,000 members on this forum and its sister site Bettafish.com

Sometime this week we have surpassed 55,000!

Thank you all for the continued support on behalf of the Moderators.

This is great news I am just curious how long did this 55000 visits last and how long was the average visit? Did the majority of visits last longer than 180 seconds. Is goggle and fishlore.com still the leading upstream feeders to our site? I am glad the rendering of our site has improved.

Hi Pop,

The 55,000 number referenced by Neil represents the total number of users who have created an account on TFK/BF. In terms of how long they spend here, we don't have access to that kind of information but I do know that we do get some traffic here thanks to Google.

Hello Youngster:

that is good news to have that many visitors sign-up to join our community.

I just could not resist doing a whois tropicalfishkeeping.com look-up and found out some interesting information. I also did alexa search too. alexa provided me the average time spent at the site and also told me we have a 63.3 % bounce rate (down 15 % which is good). It appears that visits from search engines is 38.6 % of the visits which is up 3% another good. the one negative from alexa is the website load time is rated very slow at 4.18 seconds 89% other websites load faster. TFK.com has been crawled 488 times since may 8, 1999.

i also went to http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://...ishkeeping.com to have a gander at Cathy’s Homepage of Tropical fish keeping screenshot oct 13 2005. It sure looks different with all of those blue buttons.

Pop.... "TFK.com has been crawled 488 times since May 8, 1999." What does that mean? The rest of the info is interesting!! Thanks for that!

Hello seahorse:

web crawler is software that systematically browses the world wide web for the purpose of web indexing. This process is sometime called web spider, ant or automatic indexer. Web search engines and some sites like alexa.com use web crawling or spidering software to update web content. when using a search engine and you find a post you made, it is there because the site has been crawled and indexed since you made the post.

i hope this helps.
