I agree with pasfur about the overturned aquarium statement however I suspect the reason they think it was an aquarium was because they found the lion fish just after hurricane andrew sept 24, 1992. They don't know for a fact but guessed that's how they came to the ocean. I don't know if you remember but that hurricane was aweful! alot of homes by the ocean were destroyed and some with aquariums were lining the coast and believed to had contain lion fish. those home were completely submerged in ocean water. I know because my home was completely destroyed. No interior walls, roofs, and i even had a mobile home in the attic! Took me over 15 years to recoup!
Thanks for sharing too. I hope people realize not to release any captive animal into the wild as probles may occur later. on a side note, a person back a few decades ago, planeted a type of tree called melaleuca that require lots of water for survival in florida. the idea was to drain the swamps of florida and make the land useful. well it worked too well. that tree has taken over and is destroying the everglades sucking up all the water that the natural habitat needs for survival and like the lion fish, the tree has no natural predators so now we are in a bind. They finally found a bug that eats this tree and imported them. The bugs seem to be working but who knows what complications they will bring!
