Snail ID

Hey can anyone help me with an ID on this hitchhiker snail that I recently aquired? Apparently its not a good snail as I saw it, I assume, attacking one of my Astrea snails. This is the only pic I currently have of it but its been removed from my tank and I DO still have it for more photographs if needed. Ive tried googling to no avail.

Thanks in advance!

Heres a topside view of the snail

The closest I have come to finding something similar via tons of google searches leads me to believe it is some sort of whelk snail. And from what I am reading its not a welcome guest in a reef aquarium. I would still like a more positive ID from someone familiar with snail species.

Oops, I had kinda forgot about this thread. Its actually a predatory Whelk known as Gemophos tinctus, aka the Tinted or Painted Cantharus. It has since been destroyed as I have no use for a predatory snail thats going to attack my other snails. They can get up to 1 1/2 inches. They prey mostly on Gastropods or Bivalves but also scavenge. If your interested you can read up on them here,

Gemophos tinctus (Conrad, 1846) Tinted Cantharus
