went to home depot today and picked up some supplies. wood isnt cheap. anyways started to skin the stand, here it is just double checking things fit

and starting to attach them

i chose to use screws over finishing nails because i plan on painting this thing anyways so alittle wood putty and you wouldnt be able to tell the difference

this is the right side of the stand which is eventually going to have a door to access my secret but now no longer secret compartment. i will have 2 feet on the right side of the sump (which is going where the big cut out is on the previous picture that ill add doors to) which will allow me to store chemicals and fish related things. it wont be anywhere near enough room, but room is room.

the far left side didnt get any skin because i need to hook up the skimmer, its going to be slightly different then the original plan as the cabinet (which is going on the left side now) is going to house the skimmer and possible very little storage room and more storage room will be on the right side of the sump.. hopefully i can sand tom. and im really hoping ill be able to paint.

Still looking great. What color do you plan on painting the stand?

thanks, im leaning towards black for a few reasons, the comforter in my room is black, the back of the tank is getting painted black, its not going to be overly detailed so black wont make its simpleness stand out, im also planning on painting a cabinet black to match.
the other color option is white, my trim in my room is white, my doors are white, one of the walls will prob. be painted white. i think im still sticking with black.

i did think about the staining route too, but ive decided its going to be painted, most likely black.

I hate taping off the tanks for spraying it. That must have been fun doing it on that monster- I thought a 36" long tank was annoying. Lol.

And sanding. That's no fun.

But it all pays off in the end.

the taping took 5 mins, if that.

now the sanding. boo hoo. atleast i have access to power tools of every kind.. including electrical sanders and a belt sander if i wanted except that would rip some serious wood.
