for the update my MTC skimmer hasnt been working for about a week. i can almost guarentee it is dirty and its effecting its performance. in all honesty i havnt had 5 minutes to even look at it, granted 20 to clean it or the pump. things have just been so busy lately and my tank has been noticing. there has been algae out breaks recently that just wont play nice. i also lost a green pocillopora (spelling? ) colony which was only slowly bleaching out until i got to watch my butterfly and angel eat all the remaining flesh.
heres the colony:
the good news to report is that for the past month or two ive got to watch a new clump of macro algae grow which appears to be growing well. its mostly brown but under close observation it has specs of pink. its leafy and soft appearing, moving in the flow of a powerhead. now all i need is to find out its bad by waking up to it all over my tank because it went sexual. hopefully that doesnt happen and by observing its behavior thus far i believe i shouldnt have much to worry about.
see if you can spot it, and its not the bubble algae.
this is the best top down shot i can get of it, which still came out blurry
and here it is circled
