I notice you made your bed for these pics. I guess our prior nagging worked.

Your tank is beautiful!! I can only speculate on what you're plannning for the fuge

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

thanks again for sharing your build with us, it gave me a lot of good ideas and certainly occupied quite a bit of my time reading all 26 pages..lol.....

quick question, i saw that you drilled the tank for the overflow fittings, what is the box coverign the openings called? and is it attached and sealed to the tank, or is it just there to cover the fittings and prevent any critters from entering the pipes

the box is called an overflow box and its there to prevent critters and fish from going down to the sump. it also helps to effectively skim the top of the water providing a clear surface for light penetration and gas exchange ( which the skimmer and power heads help doing too )
i got that from www.glass-holes.com as a kit, i personally like them very much as its very compact compared to other overflows and esp. reef ready tanks which i dont think ill ever buy from now on and just use these.

just playing around with the point and shoot camera this morning seeing how well i can get it to perform for me. if i dont say so myself, not bad using the macro setting in the video function. heres a short clip of amphipods scooting around on a coral skeleton in my refugium.

these are actually the larger of the pods but still pretty small. i would say similar to brine shrimp but these things really remind me of these guys from men in black for some reason lol
