i didnt realize a saltwater tank could be as small as a 3 gallon!
i'm pretty stoked about that.
and now i want to spend all of my christmas money on a saltwater setup
i'm so afraid of failing and killing everything though XD

really small tanks are not for the beginner or at least thats what i have been told if i were you i would start with a ten gallon or a twenty long.

GOT MY FIRST FISH FOR THE TANK haha take that Kellsindell :P

its a blue damsel and i guess he is in distress because its just coming off the cycling
im going to return him when i know its same parameters
here are my tank parameters
nitrite-0 good
amonia-0good
nitrate-10(i think but it was very low)
ph-8.1 a little low
saltinity-1.025
phosphates-none

sooo.. so far all my water conditions are dang near perfect, i might add some buffer tomorrow if the ph is still low but im sure you guys want more pics so here you go

You don't want to add any pH buffer to your tank. It does more harm than good, because it only changes it for a short while. Swings in pH can be very bad, especially in a small tank like a Picotope.

And I like your Damsel. A while ago I said I would never have a Damsel in any of my tanks, and now I'm thinking about getting one for my 40br. LFS sure has enough.

Hmmm...

Congrats! He looks good, and no hard feeling *cough on the cough outside cough*

Your PH isn't a bad # it's a little on the low side, but just because it's not pretty and perfect at 8.3 is no reason to change it with a buffer. If it were less then 7.9 (with the lights on) i would worry because when the lights turn off it would change to something like 7.6, but i don't even know if that's true in a pico tank... Cody?

7.8 with the lights off during the night and on in the morning is common. But that is the lowest it should be.
