All you can do is look around for some. They are not live rock, which can make it easier maybe. All we did was look aroung and pick some up when we found it.
These are pics a little closer so people can see the rocks a little closer. This one is the right side, which is contains all polyps, zoo's, and softies.
Then the next pic here is the left side which contains my SPS, mushrooms, maxima clam, and xenia.
This last pic is of my new polyp rock that I bought yesterday.
you said the flat rock was not live rock. are there any types of rock you should not put in your tank. I have a rock company near my house. they have the flat rocks that you put in fish ponds. will they work do I need to clean them?

I like the setup also more swimming room and still nice shelving for corals well done!!!
well as far as dead spots that what powerheads are for.
as far a fish dieing well quarentine anything before you put it into your tank so your have a 90% better chance it will live once you put it into your display tank. but yes very hard to get dead fish out.
