willow the diver was feeding the fish. he was talking to us while doing it too. that tank was in the "kelp forest" section of the aquarium and actually lets its water in right from the bay outside. during the day they filter it ( im sure for visability reasons ) and at night its un-filtered to let in nutrients, the top is also open for sunlight. all the fish in that tank are found locally in the bay. the card he was holding up was a seafood guide. it shares what to eat and what not to eat as some things are over fished, or high in mercury...

this aquarium actually isnt in san fran. its in santa cruz? i think. it was about an hour and a half drive there. san fran does have an aquarium by the pier but i have heard it wasnt as good. my biggest complaint about monterey is that it was way overcrowded for my liking, then again i did go on a friday during the summer.

those are actually long finned banner fish.

unfortunately thats not me feeding penguins.
