That is probably a good amount of flow.

You wil be losing some GPH depending on how far that output is from the nozzle of the pump. If you have 4 ft of head, than you might have only 1050 GPH (e.g.). And those GPH ratings on the powerheads are at optimum performance. I think it's safe to assume that you have about 1500-1600 GPH in that tank. You will be turning over your tank 32 times per hour.

How tall is this tank? You can have this flow at diiferent levels, and the strongest flow on the top of the tank (from the output of the pump). This will cause good surface agitation, and allow you to strategically place those powerheads so that every part of the tank has flow.

tank is 24 inches high. yea, i could try and move all the power heads around. the only problem is that when i move them closer to the sand they make holes in the DSB. i'll experiment a bit and see what happens.

tank is 24" deep 19" high, sorry....

heres some pics

thinking that the whirpool in the drainpipe might be an issue, these are just open 1 1/2 inch pipe....any suggestions on how to stop animals from getting in the pipe would be apperciated (since i alreadyt had to pry one of my mexican turbo snails from the inside of the pipe this morning) I tried taking a piece of PVC and cutting slits, but they limited the waterflow too much, maybe bigger slits? any suggestions would be apperciated.

added the fish....getting more crabs and snails next week from GARF, also finishing up the sump to have partitions in it, will be a little different than my orginal design since i need a ton more space that i figured for my skimmer and return pump (the mag12 is huge) shopping around for lighting next, probably going to go t5 or a VHO T5 combo.

heres an updated pic:

put the baffles in the sump last night, went a little overboard on the silicone...oh well, it holds thats all i care about. Tested it for leaks, no leaks. Need to pick up two 1 1/2inch unions tomorrow to complete the plumbing.

few pics of the sump....then the plumbing coming off my return pump, i added an extra valve for filling a bottle for water changes and one to throttle the flow.

updated shot of the tank, stilll in the market for some more rock to replace the smaller rock i have.

Might order some more crabs and snails this week to start cleaning the rock off, there is a lot of nice coraline algae under the dirt and gunk thats on the rocks.

i added some lunar lights...aka an extra 48" piece of 7 color underglows from my car. need to find a switch that will let me have all the color combos, but just have to use several switches(3)....

ordered some livestock this morning, will be here tomorrow, ill post pics and details then (nothign fancy)

anywho here are the pics....

my camera sucks, so the colors dont show too well....also is this too much light to have on overnight?? i taped off half the leds, should i tape off more so its just a slight glow?

Blue, Green, Red Leds, which make a combination of colors....
