FL Aquarium and my Pico

some pics from the FL aquarium, just one tank that I enjoyed most.

and my fresh 2.5 gallon pico. It is going well the only issues I have so far are heating/cooling (keeping it stable) but I am building a cooled hood here this weekend hopefully to steady it out. The damsels are fun to watch, make the tank a mess stirring stuff up but seem to enjoy their new homes. Sadly I am now leaving in June so they will ahve to find new homes.

nice shots!

what camera/lens are you using?

as for the heating/cooling they make a chiller/heater combination ( i actually think they stopped making them but they are available used ) it chills and heats to a stable temp you set. i want to say its called micro or the micro, something along those lines.

it is a rebel xTi with the factory lens. Has treate dme well so far and the lens is flexible enough for me while still learning. My freshwater pics trun out awesome, teh salt tank isnt quite as easy because of the water.

I have found that the fish enjoy the cooler temps at night (76) and become very active, and during the day with a fan blowing on the tank and the lights on it stays around 78-79 and they are still quite active..So I am hoping a cooling fan setup will work out well

it sounds like its working, just watch your increased evap. now that the fans going, esp in such a small tank.

I have a 2.5pico and i know what you mean about the temp. I have the same thermometer and i keep a fan that will blow over it too keep the cooler air moving accross. I don't have any issues with the temp. What are you planning on keeping in there? I just got a kenya tree to frag and throw into mine. I've just updated pics.

the temp has stabiliized the last few days-stays cooler rather then warmer (between 77 and 79) but the fish enjoy it more..I played with the refugium a bit and was able to get enough flow out of it to where I can keep the mc-450 turned off..that was my heat generator..that and the FL warmth. The fish are freaking pigs though.

I thouhgt about fragging some stuff or buying some locally but since I wont have it much longer i think i am going to keep it FOWLR--i dont want to put much more money into stock right now

That's too abd, i was hoping to have some competition. The only other person on here with a picotope was Dallops_of_Polyps and he hasn't updated in a long time... Oh well, perhaps you will again someday.
