There are a number of methods for running a Q tank (quarantine). The link I gave explains how I run a Q tank personally. I personally lower the salinity in my Q tank when adding the fish. After a couple/few weeks I begin to raise the salinity with daily water changes, until the salinity is equal to the display tank.

Revisiting this topic I wanted to ask how you do introduce activated carbon and phosphate absorbing resign into your system without use of a filter?

Also I've installed the skimmer and dry rock, but still need to increase my sand depth, underestimated how much sand it would take to get it above 4 inches.

did you also remove the plastic plants or decor from the tank? these plastics arnt made fro sw and will break down in the system (made that bo bo once befor). there is decor made for sw tanks that is fake but definetly stay away from the fake plant isle at your lfs... good luck
