Not that it isn't a great forum, but I was told by a few of the moderators I was no longer welcome here.
Anyways, the egg crate was used in the inlet/skimmer section to create a shelf to support the weight of the skimmer pump (a modification I found to be a mute point). The other sections of Eggcrate on either side of the middle (refugium) section were intended to keep both the macro algae, and any livestock being housed in the fuge, from entering the adjacent sections. Ive since made a second sump which incorperates a few new modifications to this design. That sump was used with my wifes 29 gallon mini reef. I'm now working on a third sump which also incorperates several new ideas.
