i figured since i was posting pictures here and there i mine as well put them all in one place and show everybody whats going on as it progresses. ofcourse let me know what you think and what needs to be done!! its a 46gallon bowfront
just the salt water :D

cut and put down a piece of eggcrate, then added ocean direct carribean live sand, did not pre-rinse it, and had some cloudy water issues

just didnt seem to be clearing :(

threw on a fluval 304 and magic happened

clean and clear :D

added about 50-60lbs of well established live rock today ( notice that purple coraline :D )

anyone know exactly what kind of sponge this is? and if it has any special requirements for life? thanks.


next will most likely be a sump out of a 45 gallon tank ( hopefully )
then probly a cleaning crew, stay tuned and let me know your thoughts !! :D

the background picture came on the tank when i got it, but theres another one of the exact thing somewhere in my house with "all the fish stuff" so im guessing its something picked up from prob. any LFS and thanks

the tank looks great :D. i have exactly the same background on my 8 gallon (it also came with the tank) XD

looks 2 me like your hard work is paying off!! It looks great!!! and you cant go wrong with a fluval! they are a great filter.they still run after the warrantee is over :)

thought i'd give an update.

built a "el cheapo" stand to be able to house a 45g ( for my sump ) underneath. it isnt pretty looking and was cheap but serves its purpose. reason i went this route is because ill prob. be upgrading to a 75 or 90 gal in a few months and will prob. be building yet another stand.

currently housing:
10 blue legged hermit crabs
5 red legged hermit crabs
6 turbo snails
5 nassarius snails ( i call them elephant snails lmao )
2 emerald crabs ( one is maroon obviously rare-er then an "emerald" emerald :D )
2 peppermint shrimp ( they've been in hiding for like 4 days lol )

sump parts are ordered and in the mail.. that should be running by this weekend ( hopefully )

i should have fish within the next week or two ( hopefully )

Sounds like it's coming along great. I assume after all the work that goes into making a good sump, you're going to use the 45g sump for the 75-90g as well. What are your plans for the bowfront after the upgrade?

thanks, and yea im planning on using the same sump for the 75 or 90 thats why i chose to make it soo big the first time around so im not making 3 or 4 sumps in the long run, instead just upgrading my protein skimmer.. im not 100% sure what ill do with the bowfront. i might sell it with the stand for more money for the upgrade, but again not sure .. ill prob keep the bow running while i have my new tank starting ( prob going to be a 75 because i already have one ) curing live rock and cycling and then just slowly transfer over.. again this is atleast a few months away, i should be grabbing a couple beginer corals in the next couple days, the parts for the sump should be arriving in the next couple days and hopefully i can grab 2 clowns within the next week or so.. ill keep you guys posted.

thought i give an update.

picked up a few frags from a few members from a reefing club i belong to..

ill spell and name them to the best of my ability lol

xenia, green candy cane, orange bam bam zoos, green zoos, green star polyps, a purple mushroom, and sadly i lost my kenya tree frag..i made a stupid move by moving around my live rock and i purposely place all of my coral in one spot while doing so and i forgot about it and it disapeared .. atleast it was only a tiny kenya frag and nothing of great value.
ill try to get pics when i can.. as this week ill be working on my sump and helping my father with the roof of my house ill be busy..

a shipment with my mag 9.5 .. aquarium sealant and some other items. came in the mail today ( finally, it took forever for some reason ) and tues. is the arrival day for the plastic. . so sump business should be handled this week sometime... cant wait till that 45 gal sumps up and going

AND!!! last but not least .. . . . .
i picked up a new tank!! yay! lol
its a 85 gallon, 5 foot long custom built tank with 1/2 inch thick glass.. pretty sweet huh. . i plan on slowly moving the 4 tanks in my bedroom out and as i move this guy in (+ the sump) and transfer over whats in the bowfront into this guy, but this is a future project.. i still want to paint the back of it, build a nice stand, get some more live rock in it and have it curing.. and so on and so on..
