The 2.5g is back...

i personally would keep the tank in darkness to offer them their full polyp extention ( whatever it is they have left ) seems to make the most sense to me. glad to see this little guy back open for business.

Thanks, and i have a dim-able power supply for the LED's. I've dimed the lights from 12v to 4v. They are barely on now, but my wife has been working on a puzzle in the living room and has been keeping that light on that made the tank look real ugly... I might put something over it to make sure it stays in darkness. Thanks onefish!

I hear ya man. Ive got a very nice local SW store. Saltwater Reef Aquariums, Soft & Hard Corals, Saltwater Fish & Inverts For Sale From Maine One of the awesome things about Penny, the woman who runs the store, is she will buy back frags or polyps of coral after a customers grow/reproduce. Now I know nothing about how corals do this, but I think its pretty darn sweet that she does that. She is supposedly the LARGEST Soft Coral Aquaculture facility in the USA. Cool. She is a very knowledgeable woman but kinda stuck in her ways, lol. Now dont get me wrong, thats not necessarily a bad thing, she is only like that because she wants to see her customers succeed. But it makes it difficult when she tries to turn every newb onto a complete 75 gallon setup for $3500!

I understand its easier to maintain a larger tank but thats just a HUGE investment to just dabble in SW. Guess its time for me to prove to her a newbie can have complete success with a 30G or smaller tank

Noobs can. I started with a 25g and did very well. I have a 55g. I just lost out on a deal today too... One of my club members was selling a 210g reef ready (RR) tank with sump, overflow box, refugium and 3x400watt MH bulbs with actinics (T5's) for only $350!!!!!!!!!! but alas we don't have the money in the checking account and aren't willing to touch the savings... one day i'll have my large tank.

That does look like a nice store. my LFS is good and prices are good as well. He also buys frags from hobbiest.

Welp... doesn't look like the little guy is going to make it. I've spot fed it every day, but i've pulled back to every day. I have seen no difference and have moved it into the main reef in hopes that the quality and stability of the water will encourage it to come out... thus far no such luck...

Bummer man. Sorry to hear that. Even if this one doesnt make it Im sure you will find another, healthy specimen sometime in the future in the color you want. No one can say that you didnt try though!

Though i may want one, i can't justify pulling them out of the ocean. That and spot feeding a fish everyday or every other is difficult because it can funk the water quality a bit. I don't currently have the best skimmer, sub-par, but oh well. If this makes it, which i doubt it will, i will definitely keep it alive, but if not, i'm done with the coral, lest i find one someone isn't wanting to keep anymore. I hate to see them die because of lack of information.
